Orland Township covers a 36 square mile area and is home to over 101,957 residents. We have over 40,343 parcels of land that include residential, commercial, industrial and vacant properties. Our township is comprised of three villages, Orland Park, Tinley Park, and Orland Hills, as well as the unincorporated areas within our boundaries. Our borders are 135th Street to the North, 183rd Street to the South, Harlem Ave. to the East, and Will Cook Rd. to the West.
REASONS WHY IT IS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE NAME AND ADDRESS CORRECTION FORMS:
If you buy or sell your home, the name and address is not automatically changed. To ensure each property owner receives any new “Notice of Proposed Assessed Valuation Change” for new construction or for Triennial Reassessments. To ensure all township residents receive a copy of their 1st and 2nd installment property tax bills each year.

WHERE CAN I OBTAIN A SENIOR TAX DEFERRAL APPLICATION?
The applications are available at the Cook County Treasurer’s Office located at 118 N. Clark St, Rm. 112, Chicago, IL 60602 from January 1 thru March 1st of each tax year. You can download the application and complete instruction information from their website: www.cookcountytreasurer.com.
WHERE CAN I GET A 2012 SENIOR HOMESTEAD APPLICATION?
2012 Senior Homestead applications are available at the Orland Township Assessor’s Office. Please call the Township Assessor’s Office at 708-403-4222 for information as to what documentation will be required to complete this application.
This exemption entitles residents of Cook County who own their home as of January 1st of the year in which you are applying and use this as your principal place of residence, a reduction in their equalized assessed valuation of $6,000. This exemption will reduce the total tax bill by $400 to $500 each year.
If you lease a home and are responsible for the payment of property taxes, you would also be entitled to receive this deduction.
All townships within Cook County have two opportunities each year to protest or appeal the assessed valuation on their property. The first opportunity to file an appeal would be through the Cook County Assessor’s Office. The Cook County Assessor’s Office establishes a yearly calendar to assign specific dates in which each township is open to file appeals. At the beginning of each tax year the Assessor’s Office displays a tentative filing date for each township. As the year progresses, they will update the website to reflect the actual appeal filing period. A taxpayer can only file an appeal when the township filing period has been established.
The Township Assessor’s Office also provides assessment information, property ownership, sales data, building permit information, and permanent index number inquiries to realtors, banks, appraisers, and residents. We provide residents or potential new property owners with tax estimates for current year taxes, and perform inspections of properties throughout the township to determine a correct address or condition of the property.
